2008 Capitol Hill Ocean Week Summary Report Now Available!

Capitol Hill Ocean Week (CHOW) is an annual symposium organized by the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation and others with the goal of bringing together various constituents from the ocean community and encouraging dialogue between these stakeholders.
Celebrating its eighth year, CHOW 2008, which took place June 5-7, focused on climate change and its impacts on the ocean. During the three-day symposium several panels of distinguished speakers discussed ocean-related policy issues and priorities and the current state of the ocean. Participants included Members of Congress, as well as representatives from federal and state government, industry, academia, and nonprofits. Topic areas included current scientific
data about ocean acidification, impacts to natural resources and human health, and
various solutions (sequestration, increased ocean observations, alternative/cleaner
energy).
The CHOW 2008 summary report captures the highlights of all of the panelists'
presentations, as well as a summary of the challenges and recommendations provided
during each session.
