Capitol Hill Oceans Week 2002 brought together a wide-range of stakeholders to discuss current ocean and coastal issues. Panel speakers included Members of Congress, as well as representatives of federal and state governments, industry, academia, and nonprofit organizations.

A substantive focus was paid to key ocean issues during panels titled, "Education: Creating an Ocean Literate Society", and "Coral Reefs at Risk: Challenges and Solutions".
