On April 3, founding President and CEO of the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, Lori Arguelles, will be stepping down after eight years of dedicated service.

Joy Williams, Vice President and Chief Development Officer for the Foundation, will become the acting President and CEO until a successor is named.

Over the last several years, Lori has demonstrated a passion for the ocean through her tireless efforts to build and nurture an effective organization which has done so much to support and promote America’s underwater treasures, our National Marine Sanctuary System. Her vision and leadership has left a legacy of immeasurable benefits to the sanctuary program and ocean community.

Looking forward, the Foundation board and dedicated staff are up to the challenge of steering the ship on an exciting new course during this transition and time of change. While the challenges facing the ocean are still ever present, we are confident that the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation will continue to be a beacon of light for those who are working hard to protect and preserve America’s
special ocean places.
